That's what the young lady said, after I came out to my first-ever class of college students, and after the commotion died down just a bit.

Duh, y'all.

Another student said, "I knew you was gay because you was reading a gay book that time I saw you in the library."

I said, "Were."

The first student then replied, "How can a book be gay? What, it likes other books?"
