Paraphrase

Laurie said yesterday, paraphrasing someone else, that we live in order to learn how to die. With grace and dignity; as if it's the hardest thing on earth to do. Exeunt beautiful.

That reminded me of Rilke, who wrote that people know already, intrinsically, how to hold on. We need to practice letting go.

I've practiced and practiced. Who of us masters this art?
And is not destroyed.
